About Dwyer MS 721 Magnesense Differential Pressure Transmitter

Dwyer Instruments MS-721

Magnesense Differential Press. Trans.,5 VDC,.1,.25,.5 in H2O

The Series MS Magnesense Differential Pressure Transmitter is an extremely versatile transmitter for monitoring pressure and air velocity. This compact package is loaded with features such as: field selectable English or metric ranges, field upgradeable LCD display, adjustable dampening of output signal (with optional display) and the ability to select a square root output for use with Pitot tubes and other similar flow sensors. Along with these features, the magnetic sensing technology provides exceptional long term performance and enables the Magnesense transmitter to be the solution for a myriad of pressure and flow applications. Field Upgradeable LCD. No need to order two separate transmitters. Simply stock a transmitter and display and you can satisfy any customer's requests. Simply remove cover and snap the LCD onto the board. Field Selectable Ranges in metric or English. Lowers stock and inventory requirements. You'll always have the right transmitter for every job. Digital Push Button Zero and Span. Reduces calibration time significantly over other transmitters that utilize potentiometers. Lowers maintenance time and costs. Adjustable Digital Dampening smooths out unstable pressure fluctuations common in air flow applications. Field Selectable Air Velocity Mode for fan and blower applications. Unit provides square root output that accurately tracks fpm or m/s flow rate. No need for a smart programmable indicator or PLC to convert pressure to air flow. Reduces components and installation time lowering overall costs.

Industrial-Grade Reliability and Versatility

Engineered for robust operation, the MS 721 Magnesense transmitter is crafted with a durable UV-resistant polycarbonate housing and brass fittings, ensuring resistance to harsh environments. The flexible mounting options and comprehensive protection rating (IP66/NEMA 4X) make it ideal for use in industrial spaces, clean rooms, and building management systems.

Precise, Fast, and Easy Calibration

Featuring push-button zero and span adjustments located under its cover, this pressure transmitter allows for fast and straightforward on-site calibration. The microprocessor-based design delivers accurate resultsup to 1% of full scalewhile providing a rapid response time of less than 4 seconds, ensuring minimal system downtime.

Flexible Integration and User-Centric Design

The MS 721 supports field-selectable output signals (4-20 mA or 0-10 VDC) and accommodates a wide supply voltage range, simplifying integration into new or existing systems. Its electrical connections are secured with a screw terminal block inside the housing, while the absence of a local display ensures tamper resistance and streamlined output directly to data acquisition systems.

FAQs of Dwyer MS 721 Magnesense Differential Pressure Transmitter:

Q: How is the Dwyer MS 721 Magnesense Differential Pressure Transmitter installed?

A: The transmitter is wall-mounted using the included screws and mounting accessories. Electrical connections are made through the screw terminal block located inside the polycarbonate housing after removing the cover. An installation manual is provided to guide users through the process.

Q: What types of gases can this transmitter measure?

A: It is designed for use with air and non-corrosive gases only. Exposure to corrosive gases or liquids may damage the piezo-resistive sensor and compromise measurement accuracy.

Q: Where is the Dwyer MS 721 typically used?

A: This transmitter is commonly employed in industrial facilities, HVAC systems, clean rooms, and other controlled environments where precise differential pressure measurement of air or non-corrosive gases is essential.

Q: How do you calibrate the zero and span settings?

A: Zero and span adjustments are easily performed using the push-button interfaces located under the cover of the transmitter. These allow for precise on-site calibration to ensure measurement integrity matching your applications requirements.

Q: What are the benefits of using this transmitter for industrial users?

A: It provides accuracy up to 1% full scale, resistance to harsh environments due to its IP66/NEMA 4X rated housing, fast response for timely monitoring, and flexible electrical output options to suit different system needs.

Q: What is the operating temperature range for this device?

A: The MS 721 operates reliably within temperatures from -20C to 70C and can be stored in conditions ranging from -40C to 85C, making it suitable for a variety of climates and installations.
